Mood changes and how to deal with them

It's natural to have moments when you're unhappy and days when you're ecstatic. Mood swings are typically regarded healthy as long as they don't interfere with your daily life too much.

On the other hand, if you go from being highly joyful to being severely unhappy on a frequent basis, you may have a medical issue. You should notify your doctor if you have severe and regular mood swings. They can talk about why you're having them and what could be causing them.

Mental health, hormones, drug use, and other health problems can all play a role in fast changes in behaviour.

Mood Swings: What Causes Them?

Mood swings can be triggered by a variety of causes. Excessive time spent at work or even being away from loved ones for long periods of time, for example, might cause mood swings. Excessive use of drugs and alcohol, as well as a lack of sleep, can create major fluctuations in your emotions. Mood swings, on the other hand, generally fade away after the underlying reason is treated.

Hormones and Adolescents

During puberty, adolescent hormone levels fluctuate. These changing hormone systems can mess with a young person's brain and create behavioral changes.

Hormones and Women

Due to gender-related factors such as premenstrual problems, pregnancy, and menopause, women experience mood swings twice as often as men.

Other Causes

Psychological variables such as prior mental illness, stress, past trauma, marital problems, and coping with new changes, in addition to hormones, can affect both men's and women's moods. Smoking, binge drinking, a bad diet, a lack of exercise, and an unhealthy lifestyle are all behavioural variables.

1. Get Rid Of The Bad

Attempt to recognise the moods you have on a daily basis. Any negative thinking patterns should be written down in a notepad.

Also, start making a list of what isn't working in your life right now, such as strained relationships, health issues, or financial difficulties. Make a list of everything.

Take the pieces of paper with all of the destructive patterns and things that aren't functioning in your life and burn them to relieve the emotional strain this may generate. Allow the negativity to dissolve with the paper as it burns.

2. Take a Deep Breath and Relax

Take a minute to pause, breathe deeply, and focus when you notice your mood shifting. Focus your attention on something that is happening right now, like the sound of your breathing or the feel of the wind on your skin.

You can divert your attention away from negative thoughts and feelings by focusing on something sensory.

3. Improve Your Lifestyle

Begin by evaluating all elements of your lifestyle and identifying areas for improvement.

● Is it possible for you to obtain more exercise?

● Is it possible for you to obtain more rest?

● Can you eat a balanced diet?

Since you are in charge, addressing harmful habits can have a positive impact on your mood, and nothing will be able to stop you.
